School Prayer

(सूत उवाच)
यं ब्रह्मा वरुणेन्द्ररुद्रमरुत: स्तुन्वन्ति दिव्यै: स्तवै-
र्वेदै: साङ्गपदक्रमोपनिषदैर्गायन्ति यं सामगा: ।
ध्यानावस्थिततद्गतेन मनसा पश्यन्ति यं योगिनो
यस्यान्तं न विदु: सुरासुरगणा देवाय तस्मै नम: ॥ १ ॥

(Sūta Gosvāmī said:) Unto that personality whom Brahmā, Varuṇa, Indra, Rudra and the Maruts praise by chanting transcendental hymns and reciting the Vedas with all their corollaries, pada-kramas and Upaniṣads, to whom the chanters of the Sāma Veda always sing, whom the perfected yogīs see within their minds after fixing themselves in trance and absorbing themselves within Him, and whose limit can never be found by any demigod or demon — unto that Supreme Personality of Godhead I offer my humble obeisances.

नमस्ते सते ते जगत्कारणाय
नमस्ते चिते सर्वलोकाश्रयाया।
नमोऽद्वैततत्त्वाय मुक्ति प्रदाय
नमोब्रह्मणे व्यापिने शाश्वताय॥

We bow in reverence to You, O Supreme Conscious Cause of the World, Salutations to you the highest Intellect and the one in whom the world takes refuge. Salutations to you O unique giver of liberation, You are the Supreme all-pervading eternal Creator.

वमेकं शरण्यं त्वमेकं वरेण्यम्
त्वमेकं जगत्पालकं स्वप्रकाशम्।
त्वमेकं जगत्कर्त्तृ पातृ प्रहर्तृ
त्वमेकं परं निश्चलं निर्विकल्पम्॥

You are the shining, luminous Guardian who nourishes and maintains all. You are the Creator, Preserver and dissolver of everything, You are the changeless, permanent Highest Absolute.

वयं त्वां स्मरामो वयं त्वां भजामो
वयं त्वां जगत्साक्षिरूपं नमामः।
सदेकं निधानं निरालम्बमीशम्
भवाम्बोधिपोतं शरण्यं व्रजामः॥

O Almighty One, we contemplate your Greatness, and we adore and worship you. You are the all-seeing One who observes every facet of Creation. You are the One Eternal Supporter of all of Creation; the Perfect essence of all life. O All-knowing Protector, You are the only longing of my heart and soul. I yearn for your presence, your bliss, and your protection always. O You, the Foundation of my very life, O Guardian and Protector, please bless me with Wisdom and please grant this longing for your constant presence in my Life.

(ध्रुव उवाच)
योऽन्त: प्रविश्य मम वाचमिमां प्रसुप्तां
सञ्जीवयत्यखिलशक्तिधर: स्वधाम्ना ।
अन्यांश्च हस्तचरणश्रवणत्वगादीन्
प्राणान्नमो भगवते पुरुषाय तुभ्यम् ॥

(Dhruva Mahārāja said:) My dear Lord, You are all-powerful. After entering within me, You have enlivened all my sleeping senses — my hands, legs, ears, touch sensation, life force and especially my power of speech. Let me offer my respectful obeisances unto You.

(गान्धारी उवाच ।)
त्वमेव माता च पिता त्वमेव
त्वमेव बन्धुश्च सखा त्वमेव ।
त्वमेव विद्या द्रविणं त्वमेव
त्वमेव सर्वं मम देव देव ॥

(Queen Gandhari said:) You alone are my mother and my father. You are my kin and my friend. You are my knowledge and my wealth. You are my everything, O God of gods.

ॐ सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः ।
सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः ।
सर्वे भद्राणि पश्यन्तु ।
मा कश्चित् दुःख भाग्भवेत् ॥
ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः॥

May all be happy, may all be free from illness. May all see what is auspicious, and may no one suffer from sorrow.
